3. E-mail your representatives

Once you've e-mailed your representatives, close that window.

4. Print your letter

Click Here to enter your ZIP code again. Paste your letter into the form again and re-enter your contact information. Select "Printed Letter" next to each legislator's name to get a hard-copy of your letter to include with your scholarship application. You will click "Send Message" at the bottom of the page and then find the option to Print your Letter.

Letter 1

I am asking you to sponsor legislation that will allow my child to go to a better school right in my own neighborhood. The public school that has been chosen for my family by the state is simply terrible. It is unsafe and many of the teachers don’t seem to care. There are terrific private schools right in my community within walking distance of our home. The children do very well there and learn their assignments. The problem is that we cannot afford to send our child there. I am asking you to end this unfairness. Give me the tuition you are now giving to the public school so I can choose the best school for my child.

Letter 2

I desperately need to keep my child out of the public school in our neighborhood. It is very unsafe and many of the kids drop out of school. I currently have my child in a private school, but I can no longer afford to pay the tuition. Please help me! I don’t know what I will do if I have to put her in public school. Please pass a bill that would allow families like ours to get at least a small part of the tuition that goes to the public school in our community, so we can choose a better school in our neighborhood.

Letter 3

Please help the children in our community with a tuition program that will allow my kids to go to a better school than the public school that is offered in our neighborhood. There are several very good schools with great teachers within walking distance from our home. But, we cant afford them. The public school fails so many kids. More than 50% of the kids drop out before 12th grade. The private schools are so much better and wouldn’t cost you any more if you would give me a scholarship to go to one of them. I know it costs the government over 10,000 dollars to send my child to a public school. There is a private school right in my neighborhood that does a terrific job educating the kids, and they charge less than 5,000 dollars. Please, I beg you, help us out by passing a bill to let our poor kids go to better schools.

I am totally frustrated with the government school I have to send my child to. You don’t realize how unsafe and how no one learns in these schools. Friends of ours right in our neighborhood have enough money to send their children to a private school. My child desperately needs help in certain subjects, but the school district cant help her. Her friends read and write so much better and do well in the private school but I cant afford to send her to that school. We are desperate for some help. Please pass legislation that will allow us to have some tuition money to send our child to the private school in our community. Don’t we deserve a good education like the kids whose parents live in a better part of town? All we want is a little bit of help that would keep our child in a better school right in her neighborhood. Thank you for your help in this matter.
